Light Hunters News

I’m excited to share that there are some big changes happening with Light Hunters.

I have run Light Hunters twice now and have loved witnessing people building their relationship to light and discovering it in a new way.

I often get emails inquiring if Light Hunters will be available in a different month than it has been offered, so after this session I decided to create some new options for how one can experience the Light Hunters Adventure.

30 Days of Exploring Light

You can now take Light Hunters during a month of your choice.  Just sign up before the month of your choice begins (or notify of which month you would like to take the course) and I will have the course arriving in your inbox each day of the month!   At the end of the course you receive the e-book as well.

The Light Hunters E-Book

As of today, Light Hunters is now available as an E-Book.  In the book you get 36 pages of goodness including the 30 prompts included in the course.  This works well for those of you like a truly self-paced experience where you can explore each prompt one at a time or enjoy it all at once.  It also comes with a Light Hunters Checklist to tuck into your bag and remind you of all of the different types of light.

Both options include an invitation to the Light Hunters Flickr group and are the same price at a totally affordable $39.

You can join in on either option via the Light Hunters page of the course website or in the YAYOM shop

Good Things Happening Right Now:

Registration is closing today for Wading In.  We have such an intimate and wonderful group gathered and I’m so loving putting their names to faces as their images start to flow into the flickr group and we all start connecting.  This weeks post are all up but registration will remain open for the rest of the day so it is not too late to join in.

Emerge registration is also closing today.  Liz, Jenna and I are teaching this class via Live it to the Full and we have a really fabulous group of folks in this course and are just starting to get to know them.  We also are offering a discount of 15% on one course by each of Liz, Jenna and I for the participants which makes this session extra special.  Contact Amy and Aleece of Live it to the Full if you’d like to get in on this course before registration closes!

Sara Blackthorne of Forest of Stories did an interview with me last spring and is refeaturing it today as part of her Warrior Women Interview series and you can check it out here.

Good Things Coming Up:

I’m so excited to be teaching as part of the WishBIG eCamp.  I have a whole new type of class planned for this one as we explore bringing Whimsy and Wonder into our photography.  When you sign up via my link you support me as a teacher, so if you feel called to check it out (and the amazing roster of other teachers) head on over here.

I was mighy honoured to be asked to contribute to this ebook called The Inspired Path curated by Ariane Hunter and Kate Watson.  It is being launched tomorrow but you enter your email if you want to receive it when it is released. It is totally free and really beautiful.  I’ve read through it all and am so inspired.  I totally recommend getting it tomorrow!

Thank You 2011

I’ve wanted to do this kind of end of the year post every year since I began blogging but I don’t think I ever sat down to do it before now.  It felt mighty good to review the year, what happened and select my favourite photo or photos from each month.

I am so grateful to each and ever person who chose to take one of my courses this past year.  It was a big year in the ‘big picture’ but also had a lot of gentleness to it.  So thank you to those people I got to connect with this year and thank you to 2011.

Now, onward to 2012!

In January:

  • I launched Wading In and had my world shift from offering just one e-course to really starting a business.
  • Trained for my first ever 10km race

In February:

  • I travelled to the oregon coast to help at the Pen and Paper retreat.
  • I ran a new session of YAYOM.  I was truly changed by the participants in this session.  Awestruck and smitten with them all.
  • Visited my beloved home away from home, the Bay Area and had an amazing time with dear friends.

  • I found out I had to move and pondered leaving Vancouver
  • I got to be a part of the Roots of She Spring Tribe which was a total honour and strenghtened my love of writing

In April:

  • I had more Oregon Coast time for the Joy Retreat, took my favourite photo I have ever taken (the double exposure polaroid below)
  • I got my first ever broken bone (stress fracture) 2 weeks before my race.  Hobbled around Oregon in major pain before I realized what it was.

In May:

  • I spent a weekend on Bowen Island with some amazing friends.  We played music, went for walks and drank way too much wine.  Awesomeness.

In June:

  • Found a new home, packed and prepared to move where I had been living for 5 years.  Mourned leaving my old neighbourhood.

In July:

  • The summer of love.  Shot two weddings of people I adore.
  • A month of upheaval as I moved to my new little apartment on the drive.
  • Went to my beloved Vancouver Folk Festival

In August:

  • Felt a noticable sense of safety that I haven’t in a really long time, living in a neighbourhood that felt safe and a house in which I have never been robbed and don’t feel at risk.  Didn’t know how much I needed this.
  • Shot two more breathtaking weddings and saw one of my best friends get married to her love (thats her in the red dress).

Swooning Over: The Lomokino

_MG_8057wsborder

I’m completely swooning over my new toy.  The Lomokino. I have a big love for all that is Lomo.  In the last year while I’ve been saving up for a big overhaul in my digital gear (finally moving beyond my really old but well loved Canon Rebel ) I’ve had to put my Lomo obsessions at bay.

As soon as I saw the Lomokino and what it can create…I knew I was going to obsess about this one until I got it.  So dreamy.

I also have a fridge full of film.  Not literally, but pretty close.  One entire shelf (and much of the space in the door) is filled with my remaining polaroid film and bins of 35mm film.  I bought a whole pile of 35mm film off a friend a year back and really haven’t done much with it, so my master plan with this new Lomokino is to make all sorts of little movies with this expired film and this little box of wind up creative magic.

Did any of y’all get any new photo toys over the holidays?  Do share!

Here are a few Lomokino videos I found via Flickr:
